Coach Aihara Noboru: “Speed and no mistakes, the Japanese way”

Aguascalientes, Mexico, July 13, 2019 - After sweeping Brazil 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-19)  in pool D of the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship in Aguascalientes and moving closer into the next round, head coach of Japan Aihara Noboru said the key in today’s victory was speed and no mistakes.

Aihara Noboru, coach of Japan: “Today you saw the Japanese way, speed and no mistakes. We were not expecting to win in three sets. My team performed with little mistakes. This was a lucky victory for us”.

Ishikawa Mayu, captain of Japan: “It was very difficult to control the game, we performed as one. Compared to other teams, we are not tall and one of Japan’s best skills is defense so that’s just what we did”.

Tainara Lemes, captain of Brazil: “The team lost concentration, we are now focused on the next match, this one is finished and we already turned the page. We will identify today’s errors to not make them tomorrow”.

Hairton Cabral de Oliveira, coach of Brazil: “We anticipated a very difficult match against Japan, that’s why we played all our cards; this was an important match to make it easier to qualify into the next round. In this age-group, standing against Japan needs patience. We lost focus, Japan played really well. Tomorrow is a decisive match for us; we must be tough against our opponent”.
