Victoria Mayer: "Every game will be like a final"

Leon, Mexico, July 16, 2019 - Argentina’s captain said that every match of this round would be like a final after beating Peru 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) in Pool G at the Domo de la Feria.

Guillermo Caceres, head coach of Argentina: “I am happy because we won, but it was not a good game for us. We won because we played less badly than Peru. At the end this is going to be helpful for the team, a 3-0 victory is always good fuel for the mood of the team. Now we need to focus on tomorrow, I am sure that my players learned from today and they are going to play so much better.”

Victoria Mayer, captain of Argentina: An important victory, it was tough to have a comeback in every set, but we did it working together. In this round every day, every game will be like a final, we know that the rest of the teams are very respectable teams, but we can do it, we can be better than them.

Natalia Malaga, head coach of Peru: “It looks like the team don’t want to play anymore. I preferred to give the opportunity to the U18 players, at least they are going to Egypt in some weeks.”

Kiara Montes, player of Peru: “We could have won, but we lost the opportunity. In the end, we were mostly U18 players. I’m proud of the younger member of the team who played a good game.”
